Project Coordinator- Digital Transgender Archive
The Digital Transgender Archive seeks a full-time Project Coordinator for a one year, grant-funded digitization initiative. Reporting to the Director, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for working with collaborating institutions to prepare and implement digitization plans for materials to be included in the DTA. This process includes conducting on-site and off-site research, assessing copyright and privacy concerns, facilitating digitization, training and supervising students in the lab, and maintaining high-quality metadata standards.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for communicating with archives, conducting research in their collections, identifying materials relevant to the DTA, designing and implementing digitization plans with partner institutions, overseeing on-site and off-site digitization of historical materials, training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, overseeing metadata creation and collections processing, maintaining data integrity in our Dublin Core-based metadata standard, testing search functionality, assessing and analyzing the scope and usage of the DTA, writing ongoing and current content for the website, and disseminating information on the project.
Master's in Library Science degree from an American Library Association-accredited program, advanced degree in a related area, or commensurate experience. Demonstrated knowledge of digitization workflows and standards. Demonstrated knowledge of metadata and archival description standards, particularly Dublin Core. Working knowledge of intellectual property, copyright, and privacy issues related to digital collections. Facility with transgender-related topics. Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills. Preferred experience working with digital archives or libraries. Preferred experience in a supervisory role. Preferred experience with project management.
This is an Exempt level position.
