Job Summary:

Staff Psychologist - Outreach & Diversity Focus

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide counseling services to students with developmental and mental health issues, including mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders and disorders related to grief/loss. Provide crisis intervention services. Maintain case records in accordance with professional, ethical and Office of Counseling and Personal Development (OCPD ) departmental standards. Collaborate with campus departments regarding psychological concerns of specific students. Maintain a clinical caseload of students, including individual, groups and couples. Use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as a mode of treatment for individuals and groups. Outreach to Regis departments to provide training and presentations on a variety of mental health issues. Serve as the outreach/diversity liaison between OCPD and the Regis student body and faculty, which means collaboration, programming and outreach on campus to raise awareness on important mental health issues facing minority students (including racial, ethnic, first generation and international students, and LGBTQ students). Work four hours each week at the office of diversity to provide counseling services specifically to the school’s minority population. Act as an individual supervisor for a practicum or APA intern as requested. Provide training, supervision and support to the Active Minds student group in outreach efforts to promote help-seeking behaviors and de-stigmatize mental health issues. Provide supervision to one practicum student or APA intern.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in psychology or closely related mental health field. One year experience providing therapy or counseling services to adolescents and/or college students in individual, couples and group settings. Knowledge of treating developmental and mental health issues common in adolescents and young adults including: mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders and coping with grief/loss. Knowledge in using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as a mode of treatment for individuals and in group settings. Knowledge of working with students from diverse backgrounds including: racial and ethnic minorities; LGBTQ students; first generation college students; and international students. Knowledge of assisting first-generation Americans and first generation college students in transitioning into college culture. Knowledge of providing crisis intervention for suicidal ideation, suicide attempts and hospitalization. Knowledge of supervising psychology graduate school intern and/or student group focused on exploring mental health issues.
Colorado license, or license eligible within 1 year from date of hire .
