Job Summary:

The position's appointment will be as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Biology Department. The position's academic expertise should be in molecular biology, biologically focused biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Biology Department is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology who can teach biologically-focused biochemistry courses. This tenure-track Assistant Professor will have yearly teaching responsibilities of an M.S. course in Biomedical Biochemistry, an undergraduate Cellular and Molecular Biochemistry course, introductory Molecular and Cellular Biology, and an undergraduate capstone seminar on ethics and biology. This position will also have rotating teaching responsibilities including an interdisciplinary writing-intensive course in the Regis College Core Curriculum and either a biomedical sciences seminar course or a biomedical physiology laboratory. Regis College is primarily an undergraduate teaching institution whose faculty members are expected to advise students and participate in the academic governance of the department, college, and university. This position also will help contribute to the M.S. in Biomedical Sciences program by participating in program meetings, working with other faculty teaching in the program, and advising students. The successful candidate must include inquiry in any laboratories taught; participate in pedagogical and curricular development in the program, department and college; and maintain active research that involves undergraduate students. Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or equivalent field awarded by August 1, 2018 and research experience in a field relevant to molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or a related field. The candidate should be enthusiastic about teaching and working with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have experience conducting research with students, teaching experience, and demonstrated teaching excellence. Some preference may be given to candidates with the ability to teach in Spanish to possibly allow involvement in a future biology course or courses to be taught in Spanish.
