Quarterly Adjunct Lecturer Fitness Physiology

The Biology Department at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, seeks applicants for an adjunct lecturer (non-tenure-track) for Spring 2018 to teach one course in Fitness Physiology for non-majors. The spring term is 10 weeks long with an 11th week for final exams.

Salary: $13,200 per course (includes lecture and 2 labs)

Basic Qualifications:

Prior university-level teaching experience with Human, Fitness, or Exercise Physiology is required. PhD in Biology or related discipline is required.
Must be able to teach Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:10 PM – 5:00 PM.

Preferred Qualifications:


Duties include but are not limited to:
A. Teaching an undergraduate course on fitness physiology, with lab.
B. Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with these courses, including:
a. Conducting and appearing at all assigned class meetings in a timely and prepared way;
b. Assigning and evaluating assignments that align with the course description and course learning outcomes, and providing timely feedback to students;
c. Holding regular weekly office hours on campus;
d. Submitting student grades that are appropriate, accurate and fair measures of student performance to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline;
e. Administering numerical and narrative evaluations for all courses;
f. Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Biology Department.
